DJing Services ("Audrey Rajoria")

Audrey Rajoria (aka Pooja) started dancing tango in NYC in 2010. She had never heard of it before, but tango quickly became the soundtrack of her life. While her passion for the dance continued to grow, it wasn't until a DJing workshop with Horacio Godoy in 2013 that she first got inspired to dive deeper into a study of the music. After continuing the study with Shorey Meyers, Audrey first started DJing in NYC and NJ in 2014 and has continued to DJ various practicas, milongas, house parties, and marathons across the US and in Europe. She seeks to create an experience through the music she plays and hopes to offer dancers a nostalgic window to Buenos Aires of an era gone by.

Testimonial

"Pooja is an exceptional DJ. A passionate student of tango culture, she strives to understand every facet of the genre: music, lyrics, and the development of the dance. She puts enormous effort into crafting each tanda, always seeking out new recordings and combinations. Over the course of an evening, Pooja builds a coherent narrative that is fun, exciting, and moving. Her choices are adventurous but never reckless, energetic not breakneck, romantic but never sappy. Especially noteworthy is her preparation: she never just wings it. When she is DJing for a new community, she attends milongas on the previous nights, observing the dancing and taking notes of the music that makes a particular crowd tick. And she always makes sure to visit the venue as early as possible, to gauge the sound system and the characteristics of the room. Pooja’s conscientious and sensitive DJing, dancing skills, and warm personality are a gift to any community she visits."  John Turci-Escobar, Ph.D. Faculty, Music Theory/Composition Division, The University of Texas at Austin
